HOW TO EXTEND THE LIFESPAN OF SANDWICH PANELS IN HUMID CLIMATES?

Sandwich panels are a popular choice for industrial and residential constructions due to their thermal insulation, soundproofing, and fire-resistant properties. However, in humid climates, proper maintenance and usage can significantly extend the lifespan of these materials.

The first criterion is to choose sandwich panels with an outer shell made of galvanized steel or stainless steel to enhance corrosion resistance. Additionally, protective coatings (such as PE, SMP, or PVDF) are crucial for shielding the panel from humidity and other weather elements.

Secondly, ensuring correct installation is essential. The joints must be sealed tightly to prevent water from penetrating. Waterproof accessories and special sealants should be used for open joints.

Regular inspection and cleaning of the panel surface are necessary to remove dirt, moss, and mildew that can harm the protective coating. Special attention should be given to the joints, and any signs of rust or damage should be addressed immediately.

Ensuring that the drainage system on the roof and around the building functions well is vital, as prolonged water accumulation can reduce the panel’s lifespan.

Finally, avoid strong impacts or contact with sharp objects, as they may damage the protective layer and allow water to penetrate.
